Sikhs will never tolerate a film that distorts the image of Sant Giani Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwala.

Amritsar: Sri Akal Takht Sahib’s Jathedar Singh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh has tarnished the image of Sikhs by portraying the role of 20th century Sikh hero and martyr Saint Giani Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwala in controversial actress Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film ‘Emergency’. Has taken strict notice of presenting as a separatist.

In a written statement issued by the Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat, Singh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh said that Sikhs can never tolerate imitation of their martyrs in films. He said that in Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film ‘Emergency’, the character of the great martyr Sant Giani Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwala of the twentieth century has been distorted.

Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib said that on the one hand, Jaswant Singh Khalra, the human rights activist who exposed the inhuman phenomenon of killing thousands of Sikh youths in false police encounters and calling them unidentified bodies during the 1980-90s. Even after making more than 80 cuts in the film made on the life of the Indian Censor Board, it is not being approved for release, while the Sikhs are turning a blind eye to the reference to the injustice done to the Sikhs by the Indian government after the partition of 1947. By approving the ‘Emergency’ film which presents false facts about the nation, conditions are being created to directly inflame the sentiments of Sikhs.

He said in a strong tone that Sikhs will never tolerate a film that distorts the image of Sant Giani Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwala. He said that if the government does not immediately remove the objectionable scenes in the ‘Emergency’ film and the scenes that misrepresent the image and history of Sikhs, then the government will be directly responsible for any consequences that may arise.
