Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj today appealed to the Sikh community to report the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) and desist from sharing objectionable content on social media.
Expressing concern over misuse of AI to hurt religious sentiments, he said technology had been used in ways that violated principles, traditions and history of Sikh religion.
The Jathedar pointed out that people end up sharing or uploading such material on their handles, which only helps mischievous elements achieve their motive and further hurt religious sentiments.
He also asked media outlets, social media platforms and web channels to exercise restraint and avoid downloading or reposting AI-generated content that hurts religious sentiments.
He stated that the Centre and the state governments should act strictly in such matters as it was their responsibility to curb the misuse of AI. Gargaj also called for the formulation of a robust AI policy to ensure that no content offensive to religious beliefs could be created or uploaded using AI tools
