The three-day Shaheedi Sabha (Jor Mela) held in the memory of younger sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh, Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, concluded here today with religious fervour.
To mark the concluding ceremony, a massive nagar kirtan was taken out from Fatehgarh Sahib Gurdwara to Jyoti Swarup Sahib Gurdwara after the performance of ardas by Bhai Harpal Singh, head granthi, Fatehgarh Sahib Gurdwara.
Panj Piaras led the nagar kirtan, braving the chilly weather. School bands, gatka parties, Nihangs, kirtani jathas, Sukhmani Sahib Sewa societies, various social, religious, political leaders and lakhs of devotees accompanied the nagar kirtan as it covered 2 km distance in five hours.
The main attraction of the nagar kirtan were the martial arts exhibited by Nihangs and gatka parties. The palanquin carrying Guru Granth Sahib was placed on a well-decorated four-wheeler.
Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj and SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami accompanied Guru Granth Sahib.
Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj urged the community to follow the path shown by the Gurus and urged it to fight repression and tyranny with fearlessness to save the community. He urged the government to close all wine and intoxicant-selling shops in the state during the martyrdom days of sahibzadas. Dhami lashed out at the governments for “interfering” in the affairs of the Sikhs
