
The Amritsar police have arrested a man for allegedly threatening to blow up Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport, Amritsar, on Saturday. The accused has been identified as Gurdev Singh of Ferozepur. Conforming the arrest, Police Commissioner Ranjit Singh Dhillon said Gurdev had been remanded in three-day custody. The Airports Authority of India received an e- mail in which the accused claimed to have planted six bombs at several spots at the airport. He sought Rs 1 crore or else he would blow up the airport. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhimanyu Rana said during preliminary interrogation, the accused named two persons whose identities were being ascertained. — TNS
