Bikram Majithia to appear before SIT in drugs case on July 18

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has summoned SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia to appear at Police Lines, Patiala, on July 18. The leader has been served a notice by SIT to appear and explain his position in the drugs case registered against him by the police. Patiala (Range) DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar-led SIT had grilled Majithia over his financial transactions and links with those named in the drugs case. However, after the poll code came into force, SIT did not summon Majithia. Bikram Majithia was summoned on June 7 and asked to furnish questionaires. However, Majithia had moved the court. Two days ago, a notice, issued to Majithia by SIT, was withdrawn by the state following which the petition filed by Punjab’s former minister before the Punjab and Haryana High Court was rendered infructuous.
