Several events are being held to mark the 42nd anniversary of Operation Bluestar on June 6 at the Golden Temple complex and Gurdwara Gurdarshan Parkash, the headquarters of Damdami Taksal.
An Akhand Path started on Thursday at the Akal Takht to pay homage to those killed during the operation. Its bhog will be held on June 6. The SGPC has organised an exhibition of photographs depicting the incidents of June 1984 outside the Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall.

Addressing mediapersons here on Thursday, SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami said the then Congress government had inflicted deep wounds on the Sikh community in June 1984 by launching the operation at the Harmandar Sahib, Akal Takht and other gurdwaras, which the community could never forget.

Demanding the release of Balwant Singh Rajoana and other imprisoned Sikhs, he said they had embarked on the path of struggle against the atrocities committed against the Sikhs and had been in jails for nearly three decades. The government should immediately take a decision to commute the sentence of Rajoana and release all imprisoned Sikhs, he demanded.
