Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday said the Punjab Government would be held solely responsible if anything happened to singer Gippy Grewal, whose security cover was withdrawn recently.
Addressing a gathering at Jagraon as part of his ongoing “Punjab Bachao” rally, Badal alleged that AAP had been “intimidating” media houses and those who refused to bow down, had cases filed against them.
Badal said Moga DC and SSP had misued official machinery to declare Baghapurana block samiti elections’ result in favour of AAP. He appealed to Punjabis to beware of agencies as they might bring a new entrant ahead of the 2027 Assembly poll, just as this did in the 2024 General Elections.
He said, “Hooliganism, gang violence and shootings have become a regular feature. Businessmen, sportspersons and singers are living in fear.”
“The atmosphere is such that even Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has no real authority to appoint the DCs, SSPs or even tehsildars. All these decisions are being taken from Delhi by Arvind Kejriwal,” added Badal.
The AAP government has spent Rs 4,000 crore on advertisements but had done nothing for public welfare, he said. “Where is the MSP on 22 crops?” he asked.
“Do not let the situation worsen and stop experimenting with such leadership,” he stressed. “If you bring SAD to power in 2027, Jagraon will be made a district,” Badal said.
“We will bring industry and ensure development. The Akali Dal will help stop youths going abroad and provide jobs here itself. Delhi-based parties — Congress, BJP and AAP — do not understand Punjab’s pain,” said Badal
