SGPC eyes printing press, Sikh Mission centre in California to meet rising demand for Guru Granth Sahib saroops

Establishment of a printing press under the proposed Sikh religious preaching center, Sikh Mission, and Gurmat (Guru’s wisdom) school in the US would meet the rising demand for providing more saroops of Guru Granth Sahib in the US and Canada.

Stating this, SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami, who is leading a delegation of the SGPC to the US, said that a large number of requests for providing more birs (scriptures) of Guru Granth Sahib are regularly received from Sikhs in the US and Canada.

The visiting SGPC delegates inspected the land earmarked in Yuba City, California, for the establishment of a Sikh religious preaching centre, printing press, Sikh Mission and Gurmat (Guru’s wisdom) school.

They held a discussion with architects and local Sikh leaders regarding the development of the proposed projects.

Keeping in view the sentiments of the Sikh community in the United States and Canada, Dhami said that the SGPC had decided to establish a religious preaching centre, press, Sikh Mission, and Gurmat school in the United States. He noted that 14.5 acres of land for this purpose had been donated by late Didar Singh Bains.

He further stated that the proposed centre, aimed at promoting Sikh teachings, would not only strengthen cooperation between the Sikh diaspora and Sikh institutions, but would also help connect Sikh children living abroad with Gurmat principles and Sikh traditions. He added that the project would be completed at the earliest with the cooperation of local Sikh leaders and the Sikh community.

The SGPC delegation included senior vice-president Raghujit Singh Virk, chief secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan, member Rajinder Singh Mehta, OSD Satbir Singh, and secretary Balwinder Singh Kahlwan
