Pathic bodies led by Akal Takht officiating Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargaj on Monday unanimously passed a resolution demanding that the state government send the draft law on sacrilege to the SGPC for suggestions.
At a meeting called to discuss the issue, they said the Sikh body would return the draft law with its opinion immediately. The meeting was called in the wake of the state government deciding to introduce an amendment to the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Act, 2008 to tackle sacrilege cases.

The issue snowballed into a row as the Jathedar and the SGPC demanded a separate law on the issue instead of emending the Act, which exclusively deals with the printing and publishing of the Guru Granth Sahib.
