The probe into the disappearance of 328 sacred saroops gathered momentum with fresh arrests and extensive search operations across Punjab and Chandigarh. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested former SGPC employee Kanwaljit Singh, who allegedly played a direct role in serious irregularities related to the maintenance and handling of religious scriptures, and was also involved in the unauthorised preparation and storage of the sacred saroops, an official spokesperson of the SIT said on Sunday.
