Raids in US gurdwaras: Officials in New York and New Jersey say ‘reports are entirely fake’

Amid media reports about raids being conducted by the US Department of Homeland Security at gurdwaras in New York and New Jersey to nab illegal immigrants who allegedly take refuge in their premises, local gurdwara authorities strongly refuted these claims, labelling them as false. They asserted that no such incidents have occurred in their establishments or surrounding areas.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Davinder Singh Bhoprai of the Sikh Cultural Centre Gurdwara in Richmond Hill, New York, said, “These reports are entirely fake. No such raids have occurred at any gurdwara in our area.”

He emphasised that gurdwaras are spaces of worship and peace, and people come here to pray but such misinformation creates unnecessary panic among the community.
