Torn pages of ‘Gutka’ found at Faridkot village

An alleged incident of the desecration of the ‘Gutka’ came to light at Golewala village of Faridkot on Tuesday. Gurmel Singh, a resident of the village, was returning home after delivering milk early in the morning when he noticed torn pages scattered in a drain and the religious book lying nearby. He carefully retrieved the scriptures and brought them home with respect following which he informed the police.

A police team reached the spot. On the statement of villagers, a case was registered against unidentified persons. SP (Investigation) Jasmeet Singh confirmed the desecration of the religious text in Golewala. He said a thorough probe was under way to identify and arrest the perpetrators of the sacrilege
